Fun Fact: True Grit was one of John Wayne’s final films before passing in 1979. At the 42nd Annual Academy Awards in 1970, he received a Best Actor Academy Award for his depiction as Marshal Rooster Cogburn.
Why: To raise funds for the John Wayne Cancer Foundation, an organization John Wayne’s family created in honor of him; to bring courage, strength and grit to the fight against cancer.
