MARKING ITS 70TH ANNIVERSARY, JOHN WAYNE CLASSIC THE QUIET MAN IS COMING TO A THEATER IN A TOWN NEAR YOU.

Can’t believe it’s been 70 years since John Wayne took the big screen by storm in The Quiet Man? Fathom Events sure can. They’ve partnered with TCM Big Screen Classics Series to present the beloved classic March 13 and 17 in over 700 theaters nationwide.
It doesn’t matter if one is a fan of the film either from seeing it in movie houses, on television, or on iTunes—now everyone can rediscover the magic of the movie as it was meant to be shown. Hint: not on your smartphone. Don’t do Duke thataway. Let alone director John Ford. And how about the entire island of Ireland while we’re at it.
Shot on location in 1948, more than a decade after Ford acquired the film rights to the 1933 Saturday Evening Post story that set the whole production in motion, the film was so big it needed two premieres, in both London and Dublin, in 1952. It was the last picture John Wayne—who, along with the director’s son Patrick Ford, is given credit as second unit directors by modern sources—made for Republic, and Duke’s kids, Patrick, Melinda, Antonia, and Michael, also appear in the film. Of course, Duke and John Ford were as close as brothers themselves, and Duke’s leading lady Maureen O’Hara was his lifelong friend.
Ranked 76th in AFI’s list of 100 Greatest Love Stories,The Quiet Man won Academy Awards for Best Cinematography and Best Direction. Now Fathom Events invites a new generation to fall in love with the film all over again.
